🛡️ Summary: Your Chemistry Never Leaves Your Device
Kemi Studio is engineered as a local-first chemical workspace. Your chemical structures, reaction schemes, coordinates, documents, and drawing files remain exclusively on your computer or browser local storage (IndexedDB). We do not inspect, upload, transmit, store, or sell your proprietary molecular structures or research data.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Chemical Structures and Schemes: Any molecule, reaction, stoichiometry calculation, SMILES string, or CDXML file drawn or loaded into Kemi Studio is processed completely client-side in WebAssembly and JavaScript. No canvas telemetry is captured.
- Proprietary Research & Intellectual Property: We have no access to your documents, research notes, chemical names, or experimental data.
- Personal Profiling or Advertising Trackers: We do not run third-party advertising networks, tracker pixels, or behavioral analytics cookies.
2. Information Collected For Account & Licensing Services
If you activate a Kemi Studio Pro or Commercial license, the following minimal data is processed strictly to validate seat limits and prevent key abuse:
- License Key: The alphanumeric key provided to you upon licensing.
- Anonymous Device Identifier: A one-way cryptographic SHA-256 hash calculated locally on your browser/system to verify device seat counts (e.g. 2 devices per seat). This hash cannot be reverse-engineered to identify your hardware serial numbers.
- Activation Timestamp: The date and time an activation occurred.
- Network IP Address: Processed automatically at the Cloudflare Edge to mitigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and enforce API rate limiting.
3. Optional Third-Party Scientific Queries
When you choose to use optional online scientific services (such as the Name-to-Structure or Structure-to-Name resolvers):
- Queries are submitted directly to public scientific databases (e.g., NCBI PubChem or Cambridge OPSIN).
- These queries transmit only the requested chemical name or structure identifier. No personal identifiers, license keys, or device details are sent to these third-party databases.
- If you prefer complete network isolation, you can operate Kemi Studio fully offline; all drawing, export, CIP stereo perception, and file format conversions remain 100% operational without internet access.
4. Local Storage and Cookies
Kemi Studio does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We utilize standard browser storage APIs solely for application functionality:
IndexedDB(via Dexie.js): Stores your local documents, autosave drafts, and document version history locally on your device.localStorage: Retains your user interface preferences (e.g., dark/light theme, journal style presets, grid display settings) and your activated license key cache.
You can clear this data at any time via your browser's site settings or from the Kemi Studio Settings > Data & Storage panel.
5. Cloudflare Infrastructure & Security
Kemi Studio is served via Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and edge security provider. Cloudflare processes incoming web requests and standard server connection logs (such as request headers, IP address, and status codes) to ensure site security, HTTPS encryption, and defense against malicious traffic in accordance with the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR & CCPA/CPRA
Because all chemical content is stored locally on your device, you have complete sovereignty over your data. For any licensing information held in our edge database (associated with your license key), you have the right to:
- Request confirmation of active device seats.
- Request revocation or deletion of license activations.
- Request data rectification or transfer of licenses to new devices.
To exercise any data rights, contact us at [email protected].
